We understand adolescence can be a challenging time, causing stress and confusion for both parents and teens.
As any parent knows, the phase of development we call “Adolescence” can be a particularly trying time as young people begin their journey to adulthood. This means finding their way and their place in the world. How should they relate to others in society? What kind of behavior will they believe is right and wrong? It is during this period of development that young people develop their system of values and beliefs. It’s common for teenagers to separate from their family and begin to seek their independence. Not only does this transition into adulthood challenge the adolescent, but it can also be a stressful and scary time for parents, siblings and other family members.
Boca Raton Adolescent Treatment
At The Fourmula, our staff of behavioral health and wellness professionals assess teenagers and families who enter our program. We understand that the outcome of any teenage disorder or addiction is fueled by both the teen’s behavior, as well as the family’s reaction and understanding. Family dynamics, communication problems and poor choices may contribute to continuing substance use and/or development of unhealthy defenses.
Our goal is to provide support for family members and decrease any hostility, resentment, and relationship issues that exist. Our program is designed to help families begin to grow together by reconnecting through understanding the needs of all involved. By improving communication and taking consistent actions that model healthier behavior positive changes can occur.
Our Treatment Model
Our model of treatment is based on treating the body as a whole. We are all a set of interacting systems that work best when each system is healthy. For teens and young adults, self-esteem, self-love and self confidence are constantly challenged by self-judgement of their bodies. On top of that, many teens struggle with how peers and family members judge their appearance.
We approach recovery by addressing the whole system. Our clinicians provide treatment planning and individualized therapy. Our Wellness Director develops and oversees a personalized exercise program, meal preparation, cooking classes and nutrition planning in order to educate teens. We believe that this combination of education gives adolescents in our program the opportunity to learn healthy eating habits and how to take care of their bodies.
Our concurrent treatment model at The Fourmula is proven to improve self-awareness and self-esteem and give teenagers an optimistic outlook on becoming a healthy, happy adult.

Beginning the Process
Treatment at The Fourmula starts with a phone call. The first step to positive change in your family is to hit the brakes, take a breath, and call us. Our admissions staff will work with you and your family to make an assessment of the adolescent’s unique situation. Our treatment team aims to learn as much as possible about each client’s history to determine if our program is the best fit. Once a teen is admitted in our program, we bring together our team of therapeutic specialists to work with parents and siblings to design a personalized treatment plan specific to the needs of the troubled teen.
Many parents hope that their child becomes the model citizen that they had always hoped for. At the same time, adolescents may wish for the perfect parents who will allow them to have complete control over their own lives. The Fourmula will allow each member of the family to communicate their feelings and begin to grow with realistic expectations and mutual respect.
Our clinical team assesses parenting style and helps parents understand how current patterns contribute to problems. Looking at their own parenting skills can help parents explore alternatives that may improve the situation at home for both their children, and themselves. One of the biggest goals of teen treatment at The Fourmula is to establish healthy, productive and appropriate relationships among family members. For example, it is not appropriate for the child to be in total control, just as it is not appropriate for the parents to deny the child’s individuality and differences of opinion that may exist.
We help each adolescent who enters our program take more personal responsibility for their own choices and actions, and for their role in the family unit. Our treatment model helps teens take accountability for the direction of their life, as well accept and embrace their past and future choices.
At The Fourmula, treating teens and their families who are struggling with behavioral, addiction and mental health issues truly is a family affair.
